Conference Room

Hosted by the Basiliani Resort, the Electrospin 2016 conference will take place on June 28 – July 1, 2016 in Otranto, in the province of Lecce, Apulia, Italy.

The town of Otranto is full of history, and every corner evidences the passage of different civilizations, including  the Romans, the Byzantines, and the Ottomans and the Aragoneses. It is also famous because of the sacrifice of 800 martyrs by the Turks in 1480. The historical part of the town is still in very good conditions, with the renowned Cathedral paved by a fine medieval mosaic, and the Aragonese fortress (inspiring ‘The Castle of Otranto’ by Horace Walpole which initiated the gothic novel as literary genre), making Otranto one of the most interesting cultural destinations in South Italy. The beautiful harbor and sea front, and the spectacular beaches and shores around the town contribute to make this region very appreciated.

Otranto experiences a typical Mediterranean climate. Average low/high temperatures in late June-early July are about 21-28°C (70-83 °F).
